- This medicine is used to treat depression especially in cases where sedation is not required as well as for the treatment of bulimia nervosa (an eating disorder characterised by binge eating and followed by voluntarily vomiting) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (a mental disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions) and behaviors that drive them to do something repititively).

- Advance 20mg capsule is composed of fluoxetine (20mg).
Directions For Use
- Take with or without meals.
Warnings
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding or are planning a pregnancy consult your doctor before receiving this medication.
Precautions
- Use this medicine cautiously in liver impairment, diabetes, heart disease, stable epilepsy (a condition in which patient may have sudden seizures), psychosis, ECT ( an electric shock therapy given to trigger epileptic seizure), mania (a mental illness marked by periods of great excitement, delusions, and overactivity), if there is a risk of bleeding, raised IOP (intraocular pressure), narrow-angle glaucoma ( a condition in the eye which causes increased pressure in the eye), or a history of glaucoma. Monitor for suicidal ideation in patients using this medicine. The use of this drug may cause risk factors for QT prolongation (a disorder in ECG) or torsades de pointes (a condition in which there is an irregular ECG). Advice patients to report if they experience any heart symptoms.
- Monitor growth and pubertal development in children during and after treatment.
- A dose increase of this medicine may be detrimental in patients who develop akathisia (a movement disorder characterized by a feeling of inner restlessness and inability to stay still). This drug is poor CYP2C19 metabolizers.
- Use this drug cautiously in elderly patients and withdraw gradually if adverse symptoms appear.
