Highlights

This medicine is used in the treatment of hypertension (raised blood pressure) and diabetic nephropathy (kidney disease caused by diabetes) in type II diabetes mellitus (high blood sugar level).

Description

Giozar D 50mg + 12.5mg Tablets are used to control, prevent, and treat the symptoms of increased blood pressure. Giozar D is also used to lower the risk of strokes in patients with high blood pressure and an enlarged heart. By lowering blood pressure, the chances of stroke, heart failure, and kidney problems also decrease. Losartan works by blocking the Angiotensin receptors. Hydrochlorothiazide increases urine production, thus lowering the blood volumes by removing the excess water from the body. This combination medicine is used when a patient does not respond to single/monotherapy. Additionally, it is never recommended as initial therapy.

Directions For Use

Take with or without meals. Preferably, it should be taken on an empty stomach 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.

Warnings

This medicine is contraindicated in pregnanct females. 

Precautions

Patients of renal (kidney) impairment, hepatic (liver) impairment, intravascular volume depletion, renal artery stenosis (narrowing), kidney transplantation, primary aldosteronism (hormonal disorder that leads to high blood pressure), severe heart failure, aortic stenosis (narrowing), arrhythmias (abnormal rate and rhythm of heartbeat), cardiomyopathy (heart muscle weakness), and with a history of angioedema (severe swelling under skin surface) should stay cautious. Monitor serum potassium level in elderly and patients of renal (kidney) impairment.
