Highlights

This medication is prescribed for prevention of venous thromboembolism (blood clot that starts in a vein) in patients undergoing elective hip or knee replacement surgery, treatment of DVT (blood clot that forms deep in the body), and pulmonary embolism (blood clot in an artery of lung).

Directions For Use

Take with or without meals.

Inform prescriber if you have any pending surgery before starting this medicine.

Warnings

This medicine is contraindicated in pregnant females.

This medicine is contraindicated in lactating females.

Precautions

Before using this medication patient should inform the prescriber about any history of renal (kidney) impairment, cirrhosis (healthy liver tissue replaced by scarred tissue), GI ulceration (break in the continuity of GI lining), hypertension (high BP), and bleeding disorders. Lumbar puncture and spinal anesthesia are to be avoided during therapy.
