Highlights

This medicine is used to treat depression, especially in cases where sedation is not required; as well as for the treatment of bulimia nervosa (an eating disorder characterised by binge eating and followed by voluntarily vomiting) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (a mental disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), and behaviors that drive them to do something repititively). 

Description

Olanzapine and fluoxetine combination is used to treat depression that is a part of bipolar disorder, and depression in patients who received other antidepressants that did not work well. This medicine should not be used to treat behavioral problems in older adult patients who have dementia or Alzheimer's disease.

Directions For Use

Take with or without meals.

Take a single daily dose in the morning.

Warnings

The risk of this medication is undetermined in pregnant females; therefore, caution is advised. Consult your doctor before the use of this medicine.

Precautions

Use this medicine cautiously in liver impairment, diabetes, heart disease, stable epilepsy (a condition in which patient may have sudden seizures), psychosis, ECT ( an electric shock therapy given to trigger epileptic seizure), mania  (a mental illness marked by periods of great excitement, delusions, and overactivity), if there is a risk of bleeding, raised IOP (intraocular pressure), narrow-angle glaucoma ( a condition in the eye which causes increased pressure in the eye), or a history of glaucoma.
