What is the BERA test?
BERA is Brain Evoked Response Audiometry. This test is a hearing examination for children aged from 1 to 3 years. For those who are younger, an Oto Acoustic Emission (OAE) examination can be done. They conclude if a child’s hearing functionality is within normal limits or not. In case, BERA test results are abnormal, then further examination will continue to examine the prediction of the hearing threshold of a kid. So that, the kid can get hearing rehabilitation as early as possible by using hearing aids. The whole testing procedure lasts for about 1 hour.
When is a BERA Test performed?

How is BERA test performed?
Patient does not have to do anything in this test except than lying down. They should be in calm attuite like sleeping. Children who won’t sleep, a little anesthesia is given. But it happens rarely. Electrodes will be placed on the patient’s head and behind the ear during the BERA test procedure. After completion of this test, the patient will be heard various sounds through headphones. The changes in brain electrical activity (EEG) will be measured in this test in the provision of acoustic stimuli.
When should I know the results of this Test?
You will get the results of this test in a few hours. But most probably, it takes a day for a formal report to get concluded. The time when you will receive your test results will depend on the place from where you will get your tests done. BERA Test Results range?
The audio evoked signals are produced by the brain stem and
they are recorded as troughs. Wave I, Wave II, and so on are positive
potentials recorded from the sensor at the vertex and are labeled as wave I,
Wave II, and so on until wave VII. They will help indicate the problem.
