What is the RH Factor Test and Blood Group Test?
Rh is a protein that is on the surface of the RBCs and it is inherited. If your RBCs have this protein then you are Rh if not then you are Rh -. Whenever you will get your blood test done, the or – sign will show if you have this protein or not. Being is more common than being negative. In general, it does not effect your health in any way but it can be a danger for pregnant females. That is why pregnant females who are Rh negative and their baby is Rh positive are given extra care.
The blood group test is done to basically determine your blood group that is known as ABO typing. In this test, your blood sample is mixed with antibodies against type A and B blood. After that, the sample is checked to see if the blood cells stick together or not. If they do then it means the blood reacted with one of the antibodies and then the blood group is determined.

Blood group test is performed when you want to donate blood or if you are an acceptor. For any type of transfusions, a blood group test is required.
Rh factor test is done in pregnancy and it is done in the first trimester. This test is only avoided if the female has vaginal bleeding otherwise, this test is carried out in the first trimester.
